Abstract
838,804. High frequency discharge tubes. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS Inc. July 25, 1958 [Aug. 28, 19571, No. 24092/58. Class 39(1). A strophotron electron oscillator comprising an elongated accelerator electrode 10 and two plane reflector electrodes 16, 18 between which electrons injected from a cathode 22 oscillate in a plane parallel to a magnetic field H while drifting sideways to a collector electrode 26, has the inner surface 14 of the accelerator electrode of hyperbolic cross-section, Fig. 2, with the reflector electrodes lying in two planes asymptotic to the hyperbolic surface. The load 28 is coupled between the reflector electrodes 16, 18.
