726,210. Electric resistance heaters. PHILCO CORPORATION. Feb. 2, 1953 [Feb, 11, 1952], No. 2929/53. Class 39 (3). [Also in Group XL(a)] A heater for the cathode of a thermionic valve comprises a central rod 16 of molybdenum or the like coated over most of its length with ceramic 17 and provided with a helical heater coil 18 of tungsten or the like wound round the ceramic coating. The ceramic coating is interrupted near the top end in Fig. 1 and the coil 18 is joined to the rod 16 at this point so that the lower end of the rod 16 may be used as a lead-in connection to the upper end of the coil 18.
