A cablesupporting cage 13 having a perforated base 15 is placed in a container 1 so that gas flowing from the inlet 2 to the outlet pipe 3 of the container flows through the cage. A partition 8 provided with apertures 16 may be placed between one or both pipes and the cage so that the gas is evenly distributed through the cage. The gas is dried at 4, blown at 5, and heated at 6.
