735,369. Washing gases. DRUMMOND PATENTS, Ltd., [formerly DRUMMOND PATENTS (HOLDINGS), Ltd.], and DRUMMOND, R. M. April 13, 1954 [April 13, 1953], No. 10080/53. Class 55 (2). A gas-washing apparatus comprises a fluidtight vessel which contains a body of washing liquid in its base and which has inner walls G extending across the apparatus which form a gas space A into which the gas to be washed enters through an inlet (not shown), the gas then passes under the lower edges of flared baffles C to form an upwardly moving spray of gas and liquid which impinges on a baffle plate D, the arrangement being such that one part of the upwardly moving spray is directed to impinge against another part of the spray. The baffles C extend across the gas space A and liquid separated from the gas by the baffle D and other baffles H and J is returned to the main body of liquid through channels E. In a modification the opposed baffles C may be replaced by a single open-topped bell-shaped baffle. A device for controlling the liquid level may be,provided. Specification 465,159 is referred to.
