Abstract

724,459. Clothes drying apparatus. LOVELL MANUFACTURING CO. March 24, 1953 [May 24, 1952], No. 8042/53. Class 34 (2). A tumbler clothes drier with a perforated drum 3 surrounded by a casing 11 with an air inlet opening 12 has a gas burner 20 located within a hood 17 opening at the top to air inlet 12 and with its lower end depending into the cabinet 1 so that air 'entering through louvres 19 is warmed through contact with hood 17, flows into the hood to be further heated and is mixed with products of combustion before flowing through the drum and exhaust fan 14. In a modification (Fig. 4) the burner is replaced by an electric heater 22.
