Abstract

686,661. Drying apparatus. NORVA MASKINFABRIK AKTIESELSKAB. July 30, 1951 (Aug. 8, 1950], No. 18037/51. Class 34 (ii) In apparatus for drying clothes &c. having a rotatable horizontal drum 2, with an apertured wall 3, for holding the clothes, mounted in a casing 1 of which a wall 7 has a drying air inlet opening 8 of at least 90 degrees circumferential extent, the opening is located substantially symmetrically with respect to the horizontal plane through the axis of the drum and on the side of the axis where the drum wall moves upwardly, the air outlet opening 9 being formed in that part of the wall 7 surrounding the drum which lies on the opposite side of the drum axis and below the horizontal plane through the axis. Air is drawn through a filter 13 into a chamber 14 having heaters 15 and through the drum by a fan 11 having an outlet 12 and in communication with the outlet slot 9 through a channel 10. To obtain a uniform inflow of air, the apertures a, b, c, c<SP>1</SP> b<SP>1</SP> a<SP>1</SP> of the inlet 8 either increase in diameter from a to a<SP>1</SP> or they are uniform and the spacing between the apertures decreases.
