Abstract
886,724. Exhaust silencers. EBERSPACHER, W., and EBERSPACHER, H., [trading as EBERSPACHER, J. [firm of]]. March 12, 1958 [March 16, 1957], No. 8011/58. Class 7(2). [Also in Group XI] Exhaust fumes from the combustion chamber and heat exchanger 2 of an air heater escape from a stub exhaust tube 6 to an exhaust pipe 7 through a casing 8 surrounding the stub tube 6 and connected to the pipe 7, air being blown through the casing 8 to eject the fumes from the tube 6, and holes 10 in the casing upstream of the outlet of stub tube 6 communicating with the ambient atmosphere to prevent resonance effects. The air blown through the casing 8 may be part of the air drawn in for combustion and heating, Fig. 1, or a separate fan may be connected to the casing surrounding the stub exhaust tube.
