Abstract

722,649. Roofs; tiles. WOLBERG, J., and UDASSIN, J. Jan. 5, 1953, No. 282/53. Classes 20 (4) and 87 (1). A roof construction comprises a number of three-hinged arches each consisting of two rafters 2 bolted to each other and to a ridge pole 1 and two stanchions 10 rigidly connected to the lower ends of the rafters and hingedly secured as by a tongue and groove connection 12 to a foundation 11. The rafters are of channel profile and receive depending flanges 14 of adjacent tiles 13 between which along the underside of the tile extends a stiffening rib 15; a drip groove 16 is located on the underside of a portion extending beyond the flanges which overlaps the tile next below. The stanchions are T-shaped in profile with their web decreasing downwardly in depth, and may be of metal or concrete, the rafters preferably being of reinforced concrete.
