Abstract

576,004. Roofs. MADDOX, F. M. Dec. 7, 1943, No. 20431. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i)] A roof comprises pre-cast eaves gutter blocks each having a body portion 6 which rests on the wall and has an upstanding rib 3, and a projecting portion 1 which has a rib 2 of less height forming the front of the gutter channel, the blocks serving in the case of a tiled roof to carry the rafters 7 and the ribs 3 to support the bottom course of tiles. Alternatively, in the case of a flat roof, the rear vertical face of the rib forms a stop for concrete lain in situ, or for the ends or sides of concrete roof beams. As shown, the roofing felt 9 is carried over a fillet 7a into the channel. A zinc collar 11 is provided at the entrance to the down pipe 10 and if desired a layer 12 of bituminous paint and the blocks are jointed with waterproof mastic at the cuter ends and waterproof cement at the inner ends.
