Abstract

722,233. Cotters. PURVIS, J. T. Sept. 17, 1952 [Sept. 18, 1951], No. 23316/52. Class 89 (2). [Also in Group XXVI] A locking pin or cotter for preventing endwise movement of a turbine or like blade mounted in a slot extending across the periphery of a rotor disc, comprises a flat strip of metal, the opposite ends of which are bent outwardly in opposite directions 27, 28, the bent portion at one end being bent back upon itself at 29 so as to project from the other side of the central portion 24, the bent portion 30 at the other end being bent back to such a position that it does not project beyond the other side of the central portion. The cotter is inserted together with the blade into a slot in the rotor disc, the bent portion 30 being finally bent downwardly into contact with the rotor disc. The bent portions 27, 28 may be on the same side of the central portion. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 691,380.
