Abstract

719,692. Rotarycylindrical valves. MEYNELL & SONS, Ltd. Sept. 3, 1951 [Sept. 2, 1950], No. 21698/50. Class 135 A multiple-way rotary cylindrical plug valve has as actuating handle 14, 15, saddling the valve housing 1 and connected to bosses 13 at each end of the plug 2 whereby endwise movement of the latter is prevented. The connection between the handle and the plug consists of spigots 12 on the handle engaging diametral holes in the bosses and clamped by grub screws 12a. The housing is split longitudinally at 9 and has ears 8 and screws 10 for adjustment. It carries a mounting bracket 5, and is formed with indentations 17 for engagement by a sprung ball 16 to locate the plug in five different positions The valve is suitable for use as a master valve in a milking machine, having two diametrally opposite sets of three ports 3, 3a, 3b, and 4, 4a, 4b, whilst the plug has three corresponding diametral passages 20, 21, 22, grooves for interconnecting .ports in the housing which are not in diametral alignment, and passages 23, 28 opening into the end of the plug for venting the port 3 to atmosphere in two positions of the plug.
