Abstract
719,076. Hydraulic couplings. LA HITTE, R. V. DE. July 27, 1951, No. 17799/51. Class 69 (2). A hydraulic differential gear comprises a casing 10 rotated by means of a gear 55 and recessed at 11, 12, each recess having a cam surface 19 and accommodating rotors 13, 14 secured to independently rotatable shafts 15, 16, each rotor having a plurality of vanes 20 slidable therein and pressed outwardly by springs 26 located in recesses 25. The vanes are of the shape shown in Fig. 5 with a groove 21 and grooves 22, 23 to allow fluid to flow to and from the recess 25. Chambers 40, 41 located on either side of the cam 19 in one recess communicate with similar chambers in the other recess through metering channels 42, 43. The casing 10 is provided with a central chamber 48 which communicates through holes 53, 54 with the recesses 12, 11. The fluid used may be silicone. Rubber plugs are fitted in the end plates 28, 29 in alignment with the metering channels 42, 43 to absorb shocks and allow expansion of the fluid. The metering channels may comprise tubes which can be interchanged to vary the characteristics of the gear.
