Abstract
717,112. Rotary engines. WERNER, W. A. P. Sept. 4, 1950 [June 3, 1949], No. 15038/49. Class 110(2) [Also in Group XXIX] Tidal water is passed in and out of reservoirs by way of motors of the type described in Specification 621,522 operating underwater and the energy thereby obtained is converted into electrical energy by turbo-generators. As shown, each motor has an inlet 21 for the tidal water, an outlet 24 to a reservoir and by-pass channels 39 having gates (not shown) by which the reservoir may be flooded without the water passing through the motor. The rotor 1, 2, 3 of the motor is formed of sheet metal and is hollow so that it floats and the lower piston track is formed, with the base 25, of reinforced concrete and is lined with sheet metal. Specification 629,008 is referred to. The Provisional Specification also refers to Specification 629,152.
