Abstract
717,034. Cathode constructions and materials. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., BROOK, F., and JACKSON, K. April 2, 1952 [April 2, 1951], No. 7645/51. Class 39(1) [Also in Group XXII] A thermionic cathode, for a magnetron &c., includes a porous tungsten, molybdenum, or tantalum tube made by powder metallurgy (see Group XXII). A porous tungsten tube 4, Fig 1, is fitted over a molybdenum tube 1, having a recess containing alkaline earth metal oxides 3. Molybdenum bands 5, and annular discs 6, are platinum-brazed or welded to the assembly. The heating filament 2 is attached to a molybdenum disc 7. In a modification, the tungsten tube 10, Fig 2, is impregnated with thoria.
