Abstract
716,533. Spray-producers. AKTIESELSKABET NIRO ATOMIZER. Sept. 24, 1952, No. 23953/52. Class 69 (3) A rotary vane wheel 4 with vanes 8, Fig. 2, is mounted on a shaft 3 and is surrounded by a vane wheel 16 with vanes 17 mounted on bearings 19 on the hub of the inner wheel. The medium to be atomized is supplied through one or more pipes 5, and the outer wheel is driven at a smaller angular velocity by the medium striking the vanes 17. Alternatively, the outer wheel may be mounted in a bowl of mercury. In a further embodiment, the outer wheel is motor driven in the opposite direction to the inner one. In Fig. 5 vane wheels 31, 32 are driven by a motor M, and a freely running vane wheel 35 is mounted on bearings between them. The device may comprise more than three vane wheels, adjacent wheels having different angular velocities.
