Abstract
824,022. Centrifugal fans. BAHNSON CO. March 12, 1957 [March 12, 1956], No. 8098/57. Class 110 (1). [Also in Group IX] A pair of travelling blowers 33, Fig. 1, mounted on opposite ends of arms 28 projecting laterally from a carriage 1 driven along a track 2, 3 located above and longitudinally of textile frames F, Fig. 3 (not shown) each comprises sets of blades 32 mounted on opposite ends of a motor shaft 31, Fig. 6, and each draws through an axial inlet 35 of a casing 34 rotatable about the motor and fan axis and discharges through diametrically oppositely disposed outlet nozzles 36, 37, Fig. 2, whereby air is caused to sweep along and above the sides of the frames. Continuous rotation of each fan casing 34 is effected by a sprocket 41 secured to a flanged ring 38 bolted to the inner end wall of the casing and connected by a chain 48 to a sprocket 47 on a horizontal shaft 45 driven through bevel gears 49, 50 from a shaft 51 running parallel to the arms 28 and driven through bevel gearing 53, 54 by a vertical shaft 55 having a power take-up wheel 56 frictionally engaging the rail 3. In a modification the casing of one of the two sets of blades of each blower is not rotated. In a further modification a single fan mounted on the carriage draws downwardly and discharges through two oppositely extending ducts having rotating nozzles at their ends.
