[Also in Groups XXVI and XXXIV] The flow of heat from a furnace fan impeller 170 along its shaft 171 is reduced by dividing the shaft into two parts connected by a coupling comprising end discs B, C interconnected near their periphery by fan blades 3. Air flow induced by the fan blades 3 passes transversely through the space between the discs B, C, traversing the blades in a radially inward direction and then again in a radially outward direction, whereby heat is carried away by the air.
