Abstract

716,345. Ventilating vehicles. DAIMLERBENZ AKT.-GES. March 12, 1952 [March 12, 1951], No. 6452/52. Class 137. [Also in Group XIII] In a heating and ventilating arrangement for. a motor vehicle with a radiator 12 for cooling the engine cooling water, the entry opening 19 for a passage 22 for heating and ventilating air is disposed within that face of the engine enc'osure which contains the radiator and above that part of the radiator 12 which serves for heat exchange between the cooking water and air. The air entering the funnel 19, which is behind the cowling 11 and may extend across the whole width of the radiator, passes either through cold-air passage 21 or through a heating passage 20 to the mixture passage 22, a regu'ating member 23 being provided for controlling the mixture. The heat exchanger 16 arranged in passage 20 is heated by bye-pass ducts 14, 15, branched from the cooling system of the engine 10 constituted by pipes 13, 17, radiator 12 and pump 18. In a modification the air entry is formed by a slot above the radiator block.
