Class 137 [Also in Groups XIII and XXII] In an air conditioner for the passenger compartment 10 of a vehicle, air is blown by a fan 70 over a heat exchanger having two sections in direct heat exchange with each other, through one of which 32 flows refrigerant circulated by a compressor 16 and through the other 54 flows hot water from the engine of the vehicle. The quantity of hot water passing through the heat exchanger is varied by a valve 64 controlled by a bulb 66 responsive to the temperature of the passenger compartment.
