Abstract
853,761. Ventilating vehicles. DAIMLERBENZ A. G. June 30, 1959 [July 2, 1958], No. 22376/59. Class 137 A vehicle ventilating system comprises a heat exchanger 1 and air delivery ducts 11-14 controlled by flap valves 9, 10, the heating medium, e.g. water from the vehicle engine, flowing in at 3 and passing in sequence through the portions a 1 -a 4 of the heat exchanger before flowing away at 4, so that air entering the heat exchanger from an air intake Fig. 1 (not shown) may be supplied to the ducts 11-14 at differing temperatures viz., the hottest air via duct 12, coldest air via duct 11, and air at intermediate temperatures via ducts 14 and 13. The valves 9 may be adjusted manually or automatically. A return air pipe from the vehicle may be fitted so that air may circulate through the system instead of, or in addition to fresh air being drawn in. The heat exchanger may alternatively be used for cooling.
