An air-conditioning system for an aircraft cabin is arranged also to supply air at a different temperature to another compartment, e.g. the air is admitted at 70‹ F. and withdrawn at 140‹ F., the air for this compartment being heated by admixture with recirculated air withdrawn therefrom. As shown, the compressor 10 supplies air to the cabin 15 either through a pipe 12 and valve 21, or through a cooling system comprising a heat-exchanger 13 and turbine 17. The valve is controlled either manually or by a thermostat 22, to determine the rates of mixing of the hot and cold air streams. The other compartment 24 is connected to the cold air supply pipe 18 through a pipe 27 regulated by a valve 32 controlled by a thermostat 34 in the discharge duct 26. The recirculated air is boosted by a fan 28, which counteracts the fall in pressure in the compartment 24, and the heat engendered by the fan is removed in a heat exchanger 29 before the recirculated air is admitted to the inlet duct 25 through a valve 31- which is controlled by a thermostat 33. The turbine 17 may drive the fan 28 and also a fan 20 for the coolant air for the heat-exchanger 13.
