Class 20 (4) In a method of manufacturing monolithic reinforced concrete structures such as ceilings, supporting beams &c. in which the reinforcing means consist of longitudinally, pre-tensioned flexible concrete 'bars 1, the bars, 'before being embedded in the concrete structure, are caused to assume a configuratibn corresponding to the anticipated curve of principal stresses in the final structure. The bars 1 containing reinforcing members 2 have openings 3 through which distributing bars 4 extend: Fig. 3 shows part of a mould for making a concrete plate, the spaced bars 1 being Assembled, with their exitremities on the floor of the mould and central portions supported on members 7 so that the bars; due to their flexibility, conform in their configuration to the curve of principal stress. The bars are then embedded in concrete. If a continuous beam is to be formed whose weight, is considerable in relation to the distance between supports the bars may be buckled, as by removing the concrete in the vicinity of an opening, 3, as in Fig. 4. If: a plurality of bars are to be arranged longitudinally behind one another it is advisable to arrange them so that adjacent, bars are not in the same vertical plane.
