Abstract
951,609. Frameworks for buildings. BROCKHOUSE STEEL STRUCTURES Ltd. Oct. 10, 1960 [Oct. 16, 1959], No. 35041/59. Headings E1K and E1V. In a distortable framework for a building which is on ground liable to subsidence and comprising vertical stanchions 11 to which are secured cross beams 14, and main beams 12 forming the perimeter of the frame, the stanchions 11 and/or main beams 12 are secured to the cross beams by means of angled brackets 15 which under stress bend at their apex. As shown the bracket is welded to the stanchion 11 and bolted to the main beams 12 and to a plate 18 which is in turn welded to the cross beam 14. The plate 18 has a depending flange 19 to which is welded a bracing member 20. The stanchions are of box section, the main beams of channel section, and the cross beams are of inverted T- section. Floor units are laid on battens bolted to the flanges of the cross beams. Specification 825,059 is referred to.
