Abstract
1440012 Assembling prefabricated room units C VAN DER LELY NV 16 May 1973 [23 May 1972] 23428/73 Headings E1A and E1S Prefabricated room units or like building sections are assembled, e.g. in a factory, using apparatus comprising a framework into which floor, wall and ceiling panels are lowered in turn in approximately the correct positions, the framework having various movable stops or supports operable to direct the panels into the precise required positions, whereafter the panels are connected together and the room unit thus assembled is conveyed out of the framework. The stops and supports are pivotally mounted and include: stops mounted on posts at the corners of the framework, which are movable by rams to engage corners of floor and ceiling panels and edges of wall panels; side supports in the form of plates movable by rams to engage wall panels: and stops mounted on the side supports or the sides of the framework for engaging partition walls. The room units are assembled resting on rails, on which they are subsequently rolled out of the framework. A travelling overhead crane is used to deliver the panels. The framework has working platforms. Preferably the floor and top panels have horizontal metal beams to which vertical metal beams in the wall panels are welded. Fig. 10 (not shown) shows a plan of a building made up of five side by side room units.
