Class 120(2) The traverse motion of a pirn winder comprises a reciprocating rod f, a carriage g frictionally held thereon so as to reciprocate therewith, a yarn guide g<SP>1</SP> mounted in the carriage, a traverse screw h, rotated by mechanism which may comprise an adjustable pawl and ratchet device k, m and worm and worm wheel i, h', a slide o on the screw h, the slide being provided with an engageable nut portion q and an abutment o<SP>1</SP> against which the carriage g engages at the return end of each reciprocating movement, to cause the carriage gradually to be advanced on the rod f to build the pirn. A trigger p is provided for releasing the nut portion q for resetting the slide o. A bunching-hock may be provided, which, after the required number of turns, releases the yarn for normal winding.
