Abstract

Yarn being wound onto a bobbin passes through a yarn cutter actuated by pref. a lever and a slide is moveable along a guide rod adjacent the lever. The slide is a threaded recess and a lead screw is mounted on pref. a pivotal frame which is spring biassed to engage the lead screw into the threaded recess. At the start of winding the slide is displaced from the lever of the yarn cutter and as rotation of the bobbin commences the lead screw is rotated to advance the slide along the guide rod until it strikes the lever and actuates the yarn cutter to cut the yarn. An accurate quantity of yarn is wound onto e.g. plastic or cardboard bobbins which can only carry a certain quantity of yarn. The device does not subject the yarn to increased tension as do counter devices which require the yarn to pass round auxiliary rollers.
