Abstract

1351997 Bunch building; winding speed control LEESONA CORP 19 April 1971 [19 Feb 1970] 22331/71 Headings DID and D1J Yarn 24 to be wound on a package support 22 passes from a constant supply over roller 36, round dancer roller 50 through a notch 56 in a guide 86, and a notch 62 in a severing device 64, to an aspirator 44. The peripheral speed of the former 22 is greater than the supply speed. To start winding, pneumatic cylinder 78 is actuated, moving guide 86 toward the spindle end, so that the yarn 24 is caught in notch 140 and clamp 144 on the spindle, rotation thereof causing the waste end of yarn to be severed on blade 120. The high initial speed of take-up raises dancer arm 52, actuating a switch 174 which brings a conventional constant tension winding speed controller into operation. The initial rotation of the spindle releases the yarn from notch 56 and causes it to bear against a lever 162, which guides it onto an end portion of the spindle to wind a tail 148 (Fig. 3) of yarn. Returning the guide 86 to its former position permits lever 162 to rotate under the pressure of the yarn, releasing it to be caught by a self-threading traverse guide 26.
