Abstract

712,912. Feeding alkali cellulose. COURTAULDS, Ltd. Aug. 21. 1952 [Aug. 22. 1951]. No. 19792/51. Class 78 (1) In the production of cellulose xanthate, alkali cellulose is fed to the xanthating churr from a measuring hopper, the hopper having a capacity equal to the churn and hav ing a number of compartments dischargable separ ately. As shown, the alkal cellulose is delivered by a conveyer and falls down shool '5 on to distributing cone ( whence it falls into the compartments of hopper 7. Wher the latter (which may' forrr part of the weighing mechanism) contains the predetermined amount the compartments are discharged separately or two or more at a time through doors 8 intc shoot 10 fitted with hinged plate 13 which guides the material into either of two xanthating churns. Hopper 7 may be fixed or rotatable.
