Abstract
752,232. Stirring device. SLATER, C. W. June 23, 1954 [Feb. 9, 1954], No. 3753/54. Class 78 (1). A feeding machine comprises a container 170 having an upper compartment 10 and a lower compartment 41, the two compartments being separated by an apertured partition 250, a central rotary shaft 180 carrying stirring devices 290, 320 operable in the respective compartments, and a device 44 on the shaft for assisting flow through said apertured partition. As shown, the container is fed from side hopper 240, the material being stirred by stirrers 290 and 320 in the respective compartments, said stirrers being shaped also to act as scrapers of the respective walls, and vanes 44, 290 serving to ensure the flow of the material down through the apertured partition into the lower compartment where it may be additionally stirred by a star wheel (not shown) fixed on the end of the rotary shaft. The material passes out through hole (or holes) 370 which may be governed by sliding gates 380 controlled by screw 400 or by a rotary disc furnished with holes of different diameters to vary the delivery rate.
