Abstract
Compounds having the formula <FORM:0712065/IV (b)/1> or <FORM:0712065/IV (b)/2> are obtained by reacting an ester of pantothenic acid with hydrazine to obtain the hydrazide of pantothenic acid, reacting said hydrazide with nitrous acid to obtain the azide of pantothenic acid, and thereafter reacting said azide with b -mercaptoethylamine or bis (b -aminoethyl) di-sulphide respectively. As the pantothenic acid ester there may be used the ethyl ester. The reaction with hydrazine is effected at 0-100 DEG C., with nitrous acid at below 15 DEG C. and the azide produced is reacted at 20-40 DEG C. In addition the examples describe the use of methyl-d-pantothenate as starting material and the isolation of the hydrazide. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 707,724.
