Abstract

The invention comprises compounds having the formula: <FORM:0936893/IV(a)/1> wherein -OAc represents an acyloxy radical and R and R1, which may be the same or different each represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl or hydroxy alkyl radical having from 1-6 carbon atoms, or together with the nitrogen atom, constitute a nitrogen or a nitrogen and oxygen containing heterocyclic residue and processes for the preparation thereof (a) by reacting a 3b -methyl-7-keto-8b -(g -keto-butyl)-8a ,9a -epoxy-3a , 4b -[31-acyloxy-(21,11) -cyclopentano]- decahydronaphthalene with an acid addition salt of a primary or secondary amine H.NRR1 or (b) by cyclising by an alkali metal acylate the starting compound in (a) to yield the corresponding 9a ,10a -epoxy-19-nortestosterone ester which is reacted with a primary or secondary amine of general formula H.NRR1 so as to form the corresponding 3-amino-9a -hydroxy-17b -acyloxy-oestra-1,3,5(10)-triene and dehydrating the latter to yield the desired corresponding 3-amino-17b -acyloxy-oestra-1,3,5 (10),9(11)-tetraene. A preferred product is 3-pyrrolidinyl- 17b -benzoyloxy-oestra-1,3,5(10), 9(11)-tetraene. Specification 936,894 is referred to.
