709,147. Gas turbine plant. LICENCIA TALALMANYOKAT ERTEKESITO VALLALAT. Jan. 28, 1952 [Jan. 29, 1951], No. 2325/52. Class 110(3) A gas turbine plant adapted to utilize a natural source of gas which may be incombustible gas or a mixture of incombustible gas with a combustible gas comprises a compressor which supplies only sufficient air for complete combustion of the fuel to a combustion chamber feeding the turbine, a supply duct which supplies natural gas to the combustion chamber to cool the combustion gases and control means responsive to the temperature at the outlet of the combustion chamber to control the supply of natural gas. Air from the compressor 12 is heated by the exhaust gases from the turbine 10 in a heat exchanger 21 before passing to a combustion chamber 11. Only sufficient air for the combustion of the fuel supplied through the conduit 22 is supplied by the compressor 12. The temperature of the gases supplied to the turbine 10 is reduced by mixing natural incombustible gas from a source 25 with the gases. The amount of gas supplied is controlled by a valve 34 operated by a temperature sensitive element 33 to maintain the inlet temperature to the turbine constant If the pressure at the source 25 is considerably higher than that in the combustion chamber 11. the natural gas may be throttled or expanded in a turbine or other prime mover 27 before being supplied to the combustion chamber. If a turbine or other prime mover is used the natural gas may be preheated before use in the turbine 27 in an exhaust gas heat exchanger 32. A modification in which the natural gas is mixed with the combustion gases in a chamber integral with but separate from the combustion chamber is described. The natural gas may be a mixture of CH 4 and CO 2 in the ratio of 35-65 per cent by volume.
