Abstract
709,118. Signalling over power circuits. MOTOR-COLUMBUS AKT.-GES FUR RLEKTRISCHE UNTERNEHMUNGEN. June 14, 1951 [June 14, 1950; Feb. 12, 1951], No. 14142/51. Class 40 (4) [Also in Group XXXV and XXXVI] A cable is provided with a single voltage-dividing intermediate electrode c which is spaced from the supply conductor a and outer metal sheath e by insulating layers band d, and which has an insulated connecting conductor g extending therefrom through the cable sheath to one pole of an electrical device or apparatus, the other pole of which may be earthed. The conductor g may be connected to one of a pair of terminals i which enable the cable to be connected to secondary apparatus operating at a high frequency, the current for supplying this secondary apparatus being superposed on the normal a.c. mains flowing through conductor a. The cable sheath e is earthed indirectly through a blocking circuit m which prevents the flow to earth of the high frequency current, but permits the flow to earth of the mains frequency current. The blocking circuit is shunted by a safety air gap n. The intermediate electrode may extend throughout the length of the cable or not, according to the function of the apparatus connected thereto.
