Abstract

708,229. Thermal switches. RHEOSTATIC CO., Ltd. Oct. 13, 1952, No. 25608/52. Class 38(5) A thermal switch for use with electric immersion heaters comprises a rigid channel-shaped member 1 having fixed to it at one end a contact 2 and at the other end a bimetal strip 9 which extends along the member and carries an electrically and thermally insulating strip 10 on which is mounted a contact 11. The contacts are connected to terminals mounted in an insulating cover 16, the movable contact 11 being so connected by a flexible conducting strip 13. Snap action is provided by the co-operation of an armature 14 on the strip 10 with a magnet 8 on the member 1. Contact 2 and bimetal strip 9 are adjustable by screws 4, 15 respectively.
