Abstract

705,930. Watches. SOC. E. JAEGER, FABRIQUE D'HORLOGERIE & D'INSTRUMENTS DE PRECISION. May 3, 1951 [June 7, 1950], No. 10405/51. Class 139 A self - winding mechanism for watches is characterized in that it comprises a ring, surrounding the watch movement, housed in the watch casing and supported solely by a plurality of rollers, the ring being rotatable in a space between the watch movement and the casing and being unbalanced by a weight rigidly connected thereto, the rotational movement of said ring being transmitted to the spring-drum of the mechanism. The weight 9, Fig. 1, is fixed to a ring 8 which surrounds the movement and is rotatable on rollers 6 carried by spindles 5 mounted between two plates. The ring 8 has gear teeth 12 which drive a pinion 11 carried by a spindle 10 which through an eccentric 13, Figs. 1 and 3, im. parts movement to a pair of pawls 14, 15 which co-operate with a ratchet wheel 17 in the winding train to the mainspring. The mainspring is thus wound in both directions of movement of the ring.
