Abstract
402,650. Timepieces. BECK, E., 18, Rue de Lancy, Geneva, Switzerland. March 30, 1933, No. 9629. Convention date, Aug. 11, 1932. [Class 139.] Driving-mechanism; winding-mechanism.- A one-day movement is converted into a longterm movement by adding an intermediate wheel 4 which is driven by a large spring housed between plates 12 outside the rest of the movement this large spring being wound by a pinion 14 ; the arbor of this pinion is central of the dial and around it the minute and hour pipes rotate. The wheel 4 drives wheels 2, 1 which latter replace the normal spring barrel and rotate the motionwork for the hands. Rotatably mounted on the shaft 5 of wheel 4 is a sleeve 10 to which are fixed the inner end of the large spring in space 7 and a wheel 11 carrying a pawl 13 which coacts with ratchet wheel 9. The latter is rigid on shaft 5 and wheel 11 gears with pinion 14. The outer end of the spring is attached to a pillar 18. When button 15 is turned, wheels 14 and 11 wind up the inner end of the spring, pawl 13 riding idly over ratchet 9 and sleeve 10 rotating about shaft 5. In the return direction the spring, the sleeve 10 and the pawl 13 drive the members 9, 5, 4, 2, 1.
