Class 55 (2) Air humidifying apparatus comprises a casing with inlet and outlet at opposite sides and one or more rotary elements from which liquid is thrown off centrifugally, air passing in a straight path from the inlet through the atomized liquid to the outlet which has liquid drop eliminating means. Openings 11, 12 in opposite side walls of a humidifier register with the ends of ducts in an air conditioning system and across the casing is mounted a horizontal shaft 16 carrying a number of discs 19 so that their lower edges project through apertures 20 in a plate 14 into liquid in a trough 13. The shaft is rotated by a motor 18 so as to impart a peripheral speed of about 4,000 feet per minute to the discs. Liquid is supplied to the trough through a pipe 39 which is looped to afford some degree of adjustment to a float valve casing 22 in communication with the body of liquid and containing a float with an upstanding needle valve co-operating with a seating at the inlet from the supply pipe. An eliminator unit comprising a frame 45 embodying zig-zag strips 48 is adapted to be tightly clamped against flanges 44 on the casing. On the inside a knitted wire stocking 50 is looped round upper and lower rods 51 and on the outside a wire mesh sheet 49 extends across the outlet. A shield 21 at the inlet directs the air clear of the discs.
