Abstract

704,094. Pre-stressed concrete. BRITISH TRANSPORT COMMISSION, and HEATON, E. April 22, 1952 [May 15, 1951], No. 11338/51. Class 20 (4) In the manufacture of prestressed concrete articles in which an anchoring member 4 having a conical bore with a helically formed lining 7 is to be used for anchoring a tensioned cable or the like, the anchoring member 4 is supported in a mould by means of a tube 1 passing through a hole in a wall of the mould and having a tapered thread 2 which engages with the lining 7 and a thread 3 for a securing nut 9. A bearing block 6 and a washer 10 may be interposed between the wall of the moulds and the member 4 and the securing nut 9 respectively. The block 6 and the washer 10 may be tapered or wedgeshaped. If an inflatable rubber tube is to be used to core a hole in the concrete an auxiliary tube 12 having a: collar 13 is inserted in the outer end of the tube 1. The inflatable tube passes through the tube 12 and when inflated grips both, the anchoring member 4 and: the tube 12 thereby assisting, in maintaining the position of the anchoring member.
