Abstract

888,202. Forming cavities in concrete. FELDMANN, A. Aug. 19, 1960 [Aug. 20, 1959], No. 28564/59. Class 20(2) A reinforced cavity is formed in concrete by means of a frusto-conical member 2 in a sleeve I secured to the shuttering 5 by a bolt 4. The bolt 4 is eccentrically positioned in the member 2 which is movable in the sleeve 1, so that when the shuttering has been removed, leaving the parts 1, 2 in the concrete the position of the bolt 4 may be altered to line up with the attachments or false ceilings &c. it is desired to support. The end faces of the member 2 have watertight layers of rubber. In a modification the frusto-conical member 2, Fig. 3, is mounted in a cavity in a rubber &c. frusto-conical member 9 in the sleeve 1. The bolt 4 engages a nut 10 in the member 9 and an eccentrically positioned threaded hole 3 in the member 2. The member 9 is removed from the sleeve 1 by distortion after the bolt 4 has been disengaged from the hole 3. The member 2 then drops into the bottom of the sleeve 1 and is re-engaged by the bolt 4 the position of which can be adjusted by turning the member 2. In a further modification the sleeve 1 or the member 9 has a cylindrical extension at the smaller end to form a socket for a concealing plug.
