Abstract
881,774. Prestressed concrete. SOC. TECHNIQUE POUR L'UTILISATION DE LA PRECONTRAINTE. April 9, 1959 [May 2, 1958], No. 12085/59. Class 20(4) [Also in Group XXX] An anchoring device for rigid bars for prestressed reinforced concrete comprises two parts 5, 6, Fig. 4, each having a bore through which the reinforcing bar 3 extends, the part 5 being applied against the concrete and the part 6 bearing on the part 5 whilst being capable of pivoting movements in all directions relative thereto, the part 6 comprising a bearing surface 6c perpendicular to the axis of the bore 6e therethrough for the application of apparatus 7 for tensioning the bar and a bearing surface 6d for the means which connect the bar 3 to the anchoring device. The part 6 may be formed as a ball element and the part 5 formed with a complementary spherical socket 5b preferably of a diameter slightly smaller than the radius of the ball. In a modification the part 5 may be provided with a frusto-conical cavity 5b, Fig. 5, in which the ball element engages. The device may be connected to the bar 3 by means of a nut 10 seating on a bearing surface 6d or by frustoconical wedges 8 interposed between the outer surface of the bar 3 and the surface of a frustoconical cavity 6b in the part 6. The tensioning apparatus, Fig. 7, comprises a fluid pressure jack having a part 7 engageable with the bearing surface 6c on the part 6 and having a piston 23 slidable in a body 21 and carrying a piston rod 24 through which the reinforcement rod 3 extends to an element such as a wedge 26, or a nut screwed on to the rod 3, by means of which the rod 3 is anchored to the piston rod 24. The rod 3 is arranged in a sheath 4 which is cut level with the concrete 1 only after the concrete has set. Liquid mortar is injected into the sheath 4 after the rod 3 has been tensioned through slots between the wedges 8 or through a passage 9 in the member 5. A plurality of sockets may be formed in a single bearing plate.
