Abstract
1,042,972. Post-tensioned reinforced concrete. SIMON-CARVES Ltd. Sept. 9, 1963 [Oct. 2, 1962], No. 37253/62. Heading EIV. In a method of post-tensioning a concrete structure, an anchor member 30 contained within a recess in the face of the structure is pulled to obtain the required tension in a plurality of cables 26 attached thereto, and synthetic resin 38, e,g, an epoxy resin, which may include a filler of hard material, is injected into the recess inwardly of the anchor member, said resin setting to hold the anchor member and retain the tension in the cables. The recess is provided by the inside of a casing 12. The synthetic material 38 is injected through a tube passed through a duct 31 in the anchor member 30. The anchor member 30 is externally threaded to receive an auxiliary member 40, Fig. 3 (not shown) which is pulled to apply the tension to the cables 26 and is locked in position to hold the tension until the resin has set. After removal of the auxiliary member cement grout 72 is applied to form a flush finish. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown) an anchor member of frusto-conical form is disclosed.
