Abstract

The consolidation process is for structures such as bridges and the walls of avenues, a hole being drilled in the transverse direction through the structure to accommodate a tie rod. The tie rod is threaded at the ends to receive locknuts, and passes through a support between it and the structure. The tie rod is pre-stressed, and mortar can be injected into the hole after pre-stressing. The thread can be forged into the rod, preferably for its entire length, the nut having a hemispherical base, preferably split. An additional plate is fitted between each nut and its main support plate, having a central drilling through which the rod passes, and a bell mouth on the nut side.
