Abstract

1278926 Supporting wall formwork C I WILLIAMS 13 Oct 1970 [20 Oct 1969] 48702/ 70 Heading E1S Wall formwork panels 15 are supported on a cast concrete structure 10 via internally threaded tapering bolts 30 secured on to the ends of anchor rods 32 sufficiently to stress the rods, the bolts 30 being located in tapered holes formed by "dummy she-bolts" 26, similarly shaped externally, and fixed to the formwork. The bolts 30 may be tightened mechanically using a revisable gear motor 41, after which a lock nut 45 is rotated into abutment with a plate 46 by a further motor 47. Alternatively the bolts may be tightened manually before a wing nut (71), Fig. 6 (not shown) is tightened into abutment with a bearing plate (71) bearing against a vertical washer (60). A stop plug (34), Fig. 4 (not shown) is inserted into the dummy she-bolt 26 before it is threaded on the anchor rod, so that the bolt 30 can be threaded further on to the rod to stress it.
