582,862. Pre-stressed reinforced concrete articles. DOWSETT ENGINEERING CONSTRUCTION, Ltd., and BARBER, R. S. V. Aug. 28, 1944, No. 16343. [Classes 20 (iv) and 107] In the production of pre-stressed reinforced concrete articles, two or more layers are separately cast round reinforcing wires held in a state of tension and the layers are then joined together with the reinforcements running in different directions. Alternatively, after the the first layer has hardened, the second may be cast on to it. An example is described with reference to the construction of man-hole covers. The moulds, wire-tensioning devices and general layout of the plant are as described in Specifications 572,385, 572,387, 572,390 and 572,391, [all in Group V]. The man-hole covers consist of two horizontal layers, square in plan and differing in size, with their tensioning wires running in different directions. Specification 572,388, [Group V], also is referred to.
