Class 20(4) A twisted reinforcing bar for reinforced concrete has a constant cross-sectional area throughout its length, the shape of the cross-section varying progressively and continuously along the length of the bar to prevent untwisting thereof in the concrete. In Fig. 1 the bar is provided with helicoidal grooves the width and depth of which vary simultaneously and inversely along the length of the bar to provide grooves of different shape whilst maintaining constant cross-sectional area of the bar. In a modification, Fig. 2, only some of the grooves over the areas AB and CD are varied in shape.
