650,093. Moulding prestressed concrete posts, beams, &c. WEINBERG, V. March 21, 1947, No. 7784. Convention date, March 23, 1946. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group X] A reinforcing skeleton that is to be embodied in a concrete post &c. comprises terminal blocks 1, 2, Fig. 1, to which the reinforcing wires 7 are anchored, and a medial block 3 having channels through which the wires 7 pass. Other reinforcements 8 are anchored to the blocks 1 and 3. This skeleton is placed in the mould, the blocks are pulled apart to stress the reinforcement, and concrete is cast into the spaces between the blocks. Fig. 3 shows a modified skeleton having a medial block in which the channels are not straight, the reinforcements conforming to the outline of the article to be cast. The wires may be anchored to the blocks either by embedding, as shown, in which case the embedded ends may have various shapes (Figs. 6 and 7, not shown), or by winding the wires around the blocks.
