Abstract
703,936. Glass-to-metal seals. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and LEEDS, R. E. May 22, 1952 [May 30, 1951], No. 12795/52. Class 36 [Also in Group XXIII] Those portions of an iron or steel bulb of a cathode ray tube which are to be sealed to glass end members are provided with an adherent coating of chromium which may be applied directly to the iron or steel or over a thin intermediate film of nickel or copper. The chromium coating may extend over parts of the surfaces of the bulb which are adjacent to the portions which are to be sealed, or over the whole of the internal and external surfaces of the bulb. The glass end members preferably have a coefficient of thermal expansion similar to that of iron or steel. Specification 691,870, [Group XXIII], is referred to.
