[Class 36] {Also in Group XXIII] Thin glass seals 2 forming endclosures for casings (e.g., electricdischarge devices) formed of vitreous material or metal are reinforced by ceramic or other refractory material 1, of corresponding thermal expansibility, to prevent distortion of the glass element during manufacture, or in use. The Figure shows such a reinforced end-cap provided with lead-in wires 3, the flanged edge of the glass being shaped for attachment to a metal casing 5.
