[Class 39 (iii)] A furnace for making tubes of glass or analogous material comprises a refractorv annular crucible 2 with electrodes 4 arranged on its internal and external peripheries and connected to a source of high frequency current. Quartz tubes 3 may be arranged between the crucible and the electrodes. The crucible may have upper and lower zones of different external diameter. The electrodes have thickened edges.
