Abstract
703,684. Road traffic signs. FAIRYLITES, Ltd. Dec. 14, 1950 [Feb. 24, 1950], No. 4868/50. Class 3(2) A warning sign assembly comprises a protective shallow box in two hinged parts 1, 2, a plate 6 which has one or more reflectors 7 secured on to one or each face and stop means whereby the plate and the reflector or reflectors are held on a predetermined position in the closed box, the construction being such that when the box is opened, the plate stands erect with the box serving as a flat base so that the reflector or each reflector gives warning to an oncomer approaching from the direction which is faced by that face of the plate on to which the said reflector is secured. The plate 6 is hinged by its lower end to the hinge between the two parts of the box. The box is held closed by snap fastenings 4, 5, stops 10 holding the reflectors 7 away from the box sides. As shown in Fig. 4 each part of the box is provided at the hinge end with an upstanding finger 8 which each engage behind the plate 6 on opposite sides to position and hold it erect when the box is opened. The lower corners of the plate 6 are displaced in opposite directions to form recesses 9 which accommodate the bent ends 8a of the finger 8.
